Who we are

This policy explains how Sussex Marine Watersports Ltd (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you use our website (jetbikes.com) and our Sea-Doo UK mobile apps for iOS and Android (together, our “services”). We are the “controller” of your personal information under UK data protection law. Sussex Marine Watersports Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 04258583.

The short version

  • You don't need an account to use our website or apps.
  • We only collect what you choose to send us (for example an enquiry) plus basic technical data needed to run and secure the services.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • We show Google ads to keep the services free. Personalised ads only happen if you say yes, and the apps let you remove ads with a one-off purchase.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Enquiries and messages — if you use the enquiry form on our website we collect your name, email address and/or telephone number, your message and, where offered, a subject. If you email or call us we keep a record of what you tell us so we can help.
  • Customers — if you buy from us, launch or store a craft, or book into our workshop, we collect the details needed to do that (such as your name and contact details, details of your craft and trailer, a copy of your insurance policy and your RYA qualification where required for launching).

Information collected automatically — website

  • Our hosting provider (Google) keeps standard server logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the date and time and the page that referred you. We use these to run, secure and fix the website.
  • To prevent spam, our enquiry form uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which receives your IP address and information about your browser and how you interact with the form, and temporarily counts submissions per IP address. This is not stored with your enquiry. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms apply.
  • Your browser stores two small preferences on your device (see Cookies and similar technologies).

Information collected automatically — mobile apps

  • The apps download public content (models, pre-owned skis, dealers, notices, legal pages) from our database and keep a copy on your device so they work offline. They do not ask for your location, contacts, photos or an account.
  • Advertising — when ads are enabled and you have agreed, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device and app information and how you interact with ads.
  • “Remove Ads” purchase — purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Our purchase provider, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipt and basic device and app information so we can unlock the feature and let you restore it. We do not receive your payment card details.

Staff accounts

Our staff sign in to a private admin area (using Firebase Authentication with an email address and password) to manage website and app content. This is not available to customers.

How and why we use your information

We use personal information only where the law allows. The main reasons are:

  • To respond to you and take steps you ask for (answering enquiries, arranging sales, launching, storage and servicing) — because it is necessary to do so or to take steps at your request before a contract.
  • To run, secure and improve our services (server logs, preventing spam and abuse) — our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable service.
  • To show advertising — with your consent (you can withdraw it at any time).
  • To keep records and meet legal duties (for example accounts, tax, warranty and insurance requirements) — legal obligation.
  • To tell you about offers — only if you have asked us to, or where the law allows. You can opt out at any time.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses very few. We use your browser's local storage (not tracking cookies) for:

  • sdk_theme — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode (a preference you set).
  • sdk_ad_consent_v1 — remembers your advertising choice (needed so we respect it).
  • Advertising cookies — if ads are enabled and you accept, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads. Nothing is loaded until you agree.
  • Third-party embeds — the ramp webcam, the dealer map (Google Maps) and Instagram posts are provided by third parties and may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when displayed. The Instagram posts only load after you tap “Show latest posts”.

Advertising

We show ads from Google (AdSense on the website, AdMob in the apps). In the UK and EEA we ask for your consent first — on the website with our consent banner (and Google's consent tool where enabled) and in the apps with Google's consent prompt; on iPhone and iPad the app also asks for App Tracking Transparency permission. You can change your choice any time on our Cookie & ad settings page, in the app's device privacy settings, or by buying “Remove Ads” in the apps. Google explains how it uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Who we share information with

We share information only with organisations that help us run the services, and only as needed:

  • Google — Firebase and Google Cloud host our website, database, file storage and the enquiry form; Google AdSense/AdMob provide advertising.
  • Google Maps and Places — power the dealer map and dealer details (opening hours, phone, photos) on the website and apps. Google receives your IP address and the map interactions you make.
  • what3words — provides the what3words address shown for a dealer. We look this up from our server using the dealer's location only; nothing about you is sent.
  • Instagram (Meta) — if you choose to load Instagram posts on our website, Instagram receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.
  • Our email provider — messages sent through the website enquiry form are delivered by email to our info@jetbikes.com mailbox, which is hosted by our email provider.
  • RevenueCat — validates in-app purchases.
  • Apple and Google — operate the App Store and Google Play and process payments.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, regulators and the authorities — where we are required to, or need to protect our legal rights.
  • If our business is sold or reorganised, information may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.

International transfers

Some of these providers (for example Google and RevenueCat) process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens we rely on the UK's approved safeguards, such as adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge) or the International Data Transfer Agreement / UK Addendum.

How long we keep information

  • Enquiries — only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, normally no more than 2 years afterwards.
  • Customer records — as long as needed for warranty, accounts, tax and legal purposes (usually 6 years).
  • Server logs — normally around 30 days.
  • On your device — the app's cached content and your preferences stay until you clear them or uninstall.

Security

We use reputable providers and sensible technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and restricted staff access. No system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information (such as payment card numbers) through the enquiry form.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used and to ask for a copy of it;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have information deleted, or its use restricted, in some circumstances;
  • object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent at any time (this will not affect what happened before);
  • ask for information you gave us to be provided in a portable format.

Children

Our services are not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our services contain links to other sites and apps (for example maps, manufacturer pages, the RYA and finance providers). We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices — please read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version, with its date, is always on our website and in the apps (More › Privacy Policy). We will make clear any significant changes.
